Becoming a member of the Major Meet Core team is a way to earn more points and enables you to plan your Major Meet work schedule better. Joining the Core Team is purely optional.
The Major Meet Core Team consists of those families who work a
certain number of sessions at our three major meets (Cera Ve in January, Short Course JO's in March and Memorial Day in May) with all
or most of the sessions in the same work area. Families with Junior or Senior swimmers must work 12 or more sessions and Age Group families must work 4 or more sessions.
Benefits of being on the Core Team:
-
Once you fulfill your requirements, you will receive an extra 1.0 point (Jr/Sr families) or 0.5 points (Age Group families) to apply toward your club point obligation.
- You will be allowed to sign up for your work spots before the whole
club has access. In the next couple of weeks, we will open up spots in all three meets and you can let you core team leader know when you
want to work and they will sign you up. In addition, a week before we open general sign ups for each of the three meets, we will allow you another chance to sign up. Please only sign up early if you are quite sure you will be able to work. Although we CAN remove you, it does take a fair amount of effort. Remember that you?ll be able to sign up again a week before we open up the meet for general sign up.
How to join the Major Meet Core Team:
Contact one of the team leaders below and let them know you want to
be a member of their team. They will explain how their team works and
help you sign up for your sessions.
Remember that the team leader may need to balance several requirements: getting you your points, having more experienced and less experienced workers, training new people
etc. so you may not always get your first choice. Also, if your core
area is filled, we may ask you to work another job. One of the advantages to the club of having core workers is that they are more experienced in their areas and they can train others. We also value the flexibility of people who have been on deck often and can fill in where we need them most.
If you sign up early but do not fulfill your core team requirements, unless there is a compelling reason, you will not be allowed to sign
up early next year.

Please note: officials do not need to sign up ahead of time. They can sign up when we open the sign ups to the general club because we do not cap the number of officials in any session. Also, we will soon
announce when there will be officials classes at BAC.
