C. BAC Team Order Recommendations

The following are both Required and Suggested Items that team members will need for the Year.

SWIM CAPS: Please note that anyone with long hair is required to wear a swim cap at practice and at meets. Many swimmers with short hair (or almost no hair!) wear caps at meets. IF a swim cap is worn at a meet (even an in-house or dual meet), it must be the BAC team swim cap. Any cap can be worn at practice. BAC Swim Caps are available through the food coupon sellers every day at Berkeley Heights . They are not available through Metro.

SWIM SUITS : There are several swim suits to choose from each year, each imprinted with the Berkeley Logo. Although the team suit is highly encouraged for meets (not practice) it is not required and none of the featured suits are preferred over the others. You should choose the one with the style (e.g. the female's back) that is best for your swimmer. Please note: NEVER buy a swim suit that is slightly too big for your child. The lycra in the suit will start breaking down the first time it hits the water and the suit will immediately start to stretch out. If you start with a suit that is too big, it will always be too big. Suits for competition should fit very snugly and should be kept for competition, not worn to practice. Practice suits, at a lower price, can also be purchased through Metro. Check suits frequently to make sure that holes or thin spots haven't developed. You can't expect a swim suit to last a whole year but if the suit is rinsed out after each use and not put in the dryer, you can extend its life.

T SHIRTS, WARM UPS, etc.: Swimmers attending the Buffalo meet, Sectionals, and Junior and Senior Nationals are asked to wear all Berkeley Gear-clothing with college/high school and other team logos are not allowed while at these meets.

PARENTAL GEAR: Many parents purchase polos/tshirts to wear while attending and/or working meets. Some can be purchased through Metro. Officials' shirts can be purchased through NJ Swimming.

OTHER T SHIRTS AND CLOTHING: From time to time during the year, specialty T shirts (e.g. one to promote the Buffalo meet or upcoming championships) may be offered. Some are offered as part of a fundraiser (but not to fill the fundraising commitment) and some are offered just for team spirit. They are usually one time offers and are a good chance to fill out your own or your swimmer's Berkeley wardrobe and show team spirit!
