This is an exciting time in the evolution of BAC and we are committed to providing an open and inclusive environment for all. Our goals this season are to improve communication, education and volunteer opportunities (no support is too small or insignificant, every little bit helps…) for the sake of all our dedicated swimmers who, with the coaches guidance and help, make BAC THE BEST swim club in NJ and one of the best in the country.
Who We Are:
Rich DeBonis – richdebonis@verizon.net
President – The DeBonis Family began Berkeley Swim School in 1999 when their eldest swimmer, Demi, was 4. The years following, Dean then Darby began lessons and before the age of 8, each swimmer made the team. Felicia has served as In House Meet Coordinator for a number of years, focusing on training others so all are experienced to volunteer at Major Meets held at Rutgers and to provide continuous opportunities for all swimmers to gain experience and best times. For years, Rich has worked almost every job at In House Meets and is also a member of the PC team for In House and Major Meets.
Mary Lou Stevens – m.stevens@comcast.net
Treasurer – Both Alexandra and William started lessons at the swim school in 2005. It wasn’t long before they started swimming for our summer pool club and wanted to try out for the Berkeley Swim Team. Working with the dedicated coaches and parents over the years has been both positive and mutually rewarding. Alexandra is now a Snapper and William swims for Blues. They enjoy the special activities, competition and the many friendships they have developed over the years.
Nancy King – npking1@verizon.net
VP Major Meet Operations –The King family first came to BAC in 1997 when Joshua, currently 17 and on Seniors, began lessons with the swim school. Soon, Amanda transferred to the swim team and swam through high school for Jim and then for four years at UPenn. Meredith, now 13 and a Junior, accidentally swam her first swim meet at age 3 because we didn't know she had to be 4. Nancy started as a computer operator in 1998 and became the meet director a few years later. Rob is an official. "Berkeley has taught my children many important things, the least of which is how to swim well and fast. I love working with all the Berkeley parents to run the best meets in New Jersey. Berkeley parents work hard, produce excellent results and are a lot of fun."
Amy Buckley – ajbuckley3@verizon.net
VP Communications - The Buckley family joined BAC in 2002 when Alexa, now 13 and on the Junior team, began swim lessons. Berkeley continues to play an important role in Alexa’s education, both in terms of life skills and the reinforcement of the values that are important to us. Ken, Alexa and I are happy to be part of the Berkeley family and are especially grateful for the many wonderful friendships that our family has made.
Terry Healy - ejtj3@msn.com
Secretary - The Healy family joined BAC after moving from Baltimore in the summer of 2005. Our daughter Emily, graduated with the program and is swimming for the University of Vermont while our son Joe is part of the Senior team. Berkeley Aquatic Club is a very welcoming organization making it easy to become involved. We are continually impressed with how team-oriented BAC is and are honored to be a part of the Berkeley family. |
