Berkeley Aquatic Club Accomplishments |
September 2006 -- Berkeley Aquatic Club has previously been awarded Gold Club status, a recognition given each year to the twenty-five best clubs in the United States , by USA Swimming, the national governing body.
- At least 30 BAC swimmers have held first place national rankings; over 30 have qualified for U.S. Olympic Trials; more than 50 have earned High School All-American honors; more than 20 have earned NCAA All-America honors.
- BAC athletes have represented the United States and "medaled" in every major international swimming competition:
- World University Games
- Pan-American Games
- Pan-Pacific Championships
- World Championships
- Paralympic Championships
- Olympic Games
- BAC swimmers won medals in the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Australia and 2004 Olympics.
- BAC has won numerous state and regional championships.
- 12 Regional I Championships (A region including states from New Jersey to Maine );
- During the past 25 years, BAC has won 45 New Jersey Junior Olympic Team Championships, including at least one championship each year since 1980 (NJ Junior Olympic Championships are held biannually)
Jim Wood, the head coach of BAC is nationally recognized for his coaching expertise.
- Jim was elected President of USA Swimming September 2006 for a 2 year term. He most recently served as Technical Vice-President.
- In his long service to USA Swimming, Wood has served on the following committees: Education, Age Group Planning (Chair), Sports Science and Medicine, Time Standards, Meet Evaluation, Domestic Operations (Coordinator), Strategic Planning, Senior, Open Water and International Relations. He has been part of the Olympic International Operations Committee since 1980 and served as chair from 1992-2004. He has also served on the Steering Committee since 1992 and was the committee chair from 1992-2004. He has been a member of the executive committee since 2004.
- USA Swimming also honored Jim with the 2003 USA Swimming Award.
The BAC mission goes beyond excellence in swimming to developing disciplined, well-rounded, responsible scholar-athletes.
- All Berkeley graduates have gone on to attend four year colleges and universities including, among others, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, University of Texas, West Point and Rutgers.
- Currently, BAC athletes are represented on each Ivy League Swimming Team.

Blue Streak Aquatic, Inc., the parents' support organization of Berkeley Aquatic Club, is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that supports the Berkeley Aquatic Club's competitive swim teams.
